Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri is a 501(c)(3) social service agency that provides a range of programs and services to those in need in our 38 county service area regardless of faith, culture or situation. We believe in assisting the most basic and immediate needs of the poor and vulnerable and by giving them the help and resources needed for long-term change. We choose to focus on those areas of greatest need and avoid duplication of services wherever possible. We also belong to the nation’s largest private social services network through our affiliation with Catholic Charities USA.

Services: Community outreach social services intake, referral and follow-up; emergency utility assistance for low-income families; weatherization services (utility assistance and weatherization both subject to availability of funds and program guidelines); Family Resource Program of in-home case
management including parenting skills, budgeting nutrition, employment counseling, housing
assessment, and life skills; parenting workshops;

Provides a variety of direct social services including: utility assistance, emergency dental pain relief, medication assistance, and pre-natal care management.

Columbia/Boone County Health Department

Services: Birth and death certificates; environmental health; restaurant and pool inspections,food handler training, public nuisances, Animal Control; and Nursing: HIV/STD testing andcounseling, sexually transmitted disease clinic, pregnancy testing, immunizations, and blood pressure and sugar screening), and daycare, school and sports physical; Social Services: dental pain relief program, medication assistance, utility assistance for families with children, and
elderly and disabled; WIC: supplemental food and nutrition for women, infants and children under 5 years who meet eligibility(see separate WIC listing)
Eligibility: Specific age, residence and income criteria for some services
Fees: Fees applied to most services, some services not denied if unable to pay.

Services: An intake interview is offered for the purpose of assessment and goal setting. Subsequently information and referral may be provided and/or enrollment in one of our programs. Programs include: Side by Side - individual coaching in the areas of life purpose, basic budgeting, job search, housing search, and credit score building. Extra Mile - 16 week, high accountability money management coaching with rewards/incentives. Extra Mile Homes – Four to six month transitional housing with money management and person coaching. The Love Seat – Free basic needs furniture for those in crisis or transition with church/agency verified need; resale store for those desiring to purchase low-cost items. Bike 2 to the Future – Free bicycle, helmet and lock for adults needing transportation to work or school

Intake Procedures: Agencies or church staff may email a referral to or or leave a message on line 2. Clients may leave a message on line 1 on Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 
Staff is not available for walk-in appointments.
